Viscosupplementation

Hyaluronic acid is a viscous polysaccharide found in connective tissue. Since the late 1990’s the FDA has approved Hyaluronic acid injections (more commonly known as gel injections or viscosupplementation) for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Research has shown that viscosupplementation can lead to improvements in both pain and joint mobility.
